Thursday morning
Some very sleepy children this morning who just needed woken up. Gather the weather in Leith is not to good - its not raining here and although grey everything looks good for the last full day at Benmore.
Wednesday update
Just finished tea (7pm) and found time before diaries and the evenings scavenger hunt for a short update.
Mr Friend and Mrs Stiven joined one of the groups going up the gorge. All of the children were really impressive, trying some real challenges but helping and supporting each other. All of the children - Emily, Aicha, Helena, James, Ali, Finlay, Laura, Oskar, Gurmanik and Travis climbed up a waterfall and went through the keyhole. 3 brave childen then went under the rock of Africa!
Millie, Taylor, Courtney, Humna, Calum, Dylan, Shae, Turyyib and Danny spent the afternoon orienteering around the centre. In all the years of this activity no child has every collected the orienteering stations and brought them back......until a certain boy in Leith Primary arrived!!
Aimie, Chloe, Ellie, Jessica, Noor, Stefan, Zain, Armin, Sahil and Rebecca should have been sailing on the Holy Loch this afternoon however the wind has got much stronger (as Mr Friend found out on the ferry) and sailing had to be abandoned. The group all got a bumpy and wet ride in the speedboat before returning to do climbing on the wall at the centre.

Tuesday Bonsoir
Pasta bake and warm socks for tea this evening followed by a few quiet games in the common room.
A big thank you to the Benmore cooks who made a delicious cake for Shae and birthday.
Mums and dads should be very proud of their offspring's hard work today. A lot of fears were overcome and important life lessons learnt (mostly of the personal hygiene variety!)
We are all looking forward to tomorrow's activities and importantly a good nights sleep!

Humna Rides Again!
Well done to Humna who started out as a non bike rider today but is now giving Sir Chris Hoy a run for his money. A confident individual and successful learner I'm sure you'll all agree :)
Tuesday Morning
Well we have been lucky. The weather was glorious this morning for our groups who were on the high ropes, kayaking on beautiful Lock Eck and gorge walking. One or two were suffering as a result of the late night antics but even still the vast majority of participants have been asking about when they can come back again!
We have just finished lunch; minestrone soup, filled rolls and juice and biscuits. Everyone has twenty minutes or so free time until our next activity which will be either kayaking or bike riding. We all have our fingers crossed for a sunny afternoon.

Last Night
Well last night wasn't too wet but it certainly was muddy. It was pretty tough going for many and there were a few brief tears. However I was so proud of Courtney, Millie, Jessica, Humna who battled on to the end despite initial woes.
It was a late night and most people were pretty tired. The girls did well to settle reasonably quickly. However the boys took a little longer. One or two will be dead beat by lunchtime I predict!
A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our two birthday boys, Shae and Turyib! I'm sure this will be one to remember.
A very impressive early rise from most this morning and eagerness to do chores before breakfast! We eat at 8:30 and I think I can smell bacon...

All fed and watered.
The kids have had their first activity. Most did a mini gorge walk with a bit of river fording and tunnel slithering thrown in for good measure. Cake and juice was followed by some free time for playing football, tree climbing or having a rest. It was fish and chips for tea followed by fruit salad with most people going back for seconds. Now we're getting ready for a night ramble in the dark. We have been told to wear our waterproofs (given out earlier) so looks like we're going to get wet (again). Smiles all round and already referring to the big house as 'home'.
The Redwood Avenue
A beautiful sight and, fingers crossed, still sunny. These trees are one hundred and fifty years old. Babies considering they can grow up to three thousand years old. I wonder if leith ps will still be coming then!
Groups
The groups have been organised, equipment collected and mades made (yes you read correctly!) We are meeting our group leaders again in fifteen minutes so we can do an activity before afternoon tea, juice and cake at 5pm.
We're almost there!!
Managed to get that ferry across the water and to Dunoon where we had lunch overlooking the Holy Loch. All fully fed and just approaching Benmore now. Exiting!

50 things to do before you are 12.
Did anyone see this from the National Trust?

P6 will certainly be doing some of these at Benmore.

Cameras
New for this year at Benmore we have 2 new waterproof film cameras for children to film their activities and most excitingly a waterproof helmet camera so children can film hands free as they climb up a waterfall or jump off the top of a 10m pole!
Monday 23
Remember the bus leaves Leith Primary at 9.30 am
Make sure you arrive at school in plenty of time.
If it is raining then bring your bag into the lunch hall. If it is dry please keep you bag outside.
Make sure your packed lunch is NOT in your main bag as it will go into the hold of the bus.
